Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the Outstanding Achievement Award (Science and Technology) for Scientific research in higher education institutions. The University is the first completed unit. Professor Fan Runhua of the College of Ocean Science and Engineering is the first completed person and Associate Professor Sun Kai participated in the completion of Construction Strategy and Double negative Mechanism of percolating Metamaterials, which won the second prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education in 2022. The Scientific Research Excellence Award (Science and Technology) is set up by the Ministry of Education and is open to institutions of higher learning throughout the country, including the Natural Science Award, the Technological Invention Award, the Scientific and Technological Progress Award and the Youth Science Award.
The electrification and intelligence of transportation equipment is producing a new round of industrial revolution and industrial upgrading. One generation of materials, one generation of manufacturing, the generational upgrade of electrical materials is of great significance. Facing the national needs, Professor Fan Runhua's team has presided over major projects of natural science of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and National Natural Science Foundation, carried out a series of research on a new generation of electrical materials, pioneered metamaterials with percolation configuration in the world, broke through the original electrical materials and their preparation technology, and produced a number of important applications in ship equipment and other fields. He has published more than 100 academic papers, including 32 ESI highly cited papers. After 20 years of accumulation of relevant research, the China New Materials Research Frontier Report 2021 recently released by the Chinese Academy of Engineering has pointed out 16 influential Chinese metamaterial research teams, and Fan Runhua's team is listed among them.
